Well we now have our new Spiderman in his black suit. Satisfaction? Yes. Is Miles worthy of the new threads? Darn tootin. In his first official outing as Spiderman, Miles Morales has proven to be an initially clumsy but definitely correct helmer of the webs and wall crawling. His character has developed a much needed step into maturity as he not only tackles the growing pains of becoming a super hero but also comes to terms with the less than reputable past of his father and uncle. With this development into Miles’ family origins, it brings up the question if both sides of his life will eventually intercede. If this proves to be the case then a major rift can take place in Miles’ attempts to remain Spiderman. This is all the more apparent when several pages of the issue are spent narrating Mile’s uncle’s illegal activities, including using what appears to be electric powers. Will Miles’ uncle become his nemesis? Will he become an ally? There are so many questions after the completion of this issue. Nevertheless, Ultimate Spiderman #6 is our first step into the deeper story of our new Spiderman.
