Comic Review: Avenging Spiderman #3

Avenging Spider-Man #3

By Rafael A. Hernandez

Funny, satisfying resolution. Thank you comic book gods. I was a little disappointed with the last issue, admittedly. But it was great to see the web slinger use his ingenuity (however unintentional) to free the underground nation once ruled by Mole Man. Readers will be in a fit of happiness and laughter to see Spiderman win a battle of honor by essentially pantsing his opponent. Though the Avenging series has not been for lack of laughs, it was indeed lacking in narrative quality. It was especially disappointing how Spiderman was less a hero and more a spectator. In this issue the spotlight is all on web-head and his heroic motivations. As one of the many to come skirmishes of Spiderman’s antics alongside the Avengers, this series is definitely at its highest point thus far. Readers should do well not to expect this series to win any Hugo Awards. Simply understand that Spidey will be his more humorous action packed self. I just pray it will not take a whole issue to move on to the better quality comedy and narration.
