Prose Exposition: Impatience, Mortally Risked

Hey ya’ll. I’m going to start a new segment for the blog. Every now and then I’ll post something prose-y just to sweep away the literary cobwebs accumulating in my clogged brain. Clogged by what? Maybe all the anime and video games. Mainly the anime I think. One can only see a pubescent girl’s eye sparkle at a cute plushy, boy, other girl?, etc, until they start going mad. See, that entire sentence was a conundrum of craziness. Now you see my point. So let’s get on with it shall we.

By Rafael A. Hernandez

It was an astonishing sight, the crumbling of a sturdy wall as it is pulled towards a lamb. Moments like these are rare and often end as quickly as a passing gust on a clear day. You were weeping at a time when I thought relief had been your harbor. So my only goal was to get to you, and to do so as quickly as possible. To hell with the confines of social structure and safety, you needed help or at least someone to profess your worries to, but alas, obstructions were ahead. Whether it was everyone’s inability to move in a sufficient, speedy manner or my own hastiness, is a mystery. I just could not stand how everyone seemed to want to stop me at that exact moment. Invisible trains, slow drivers and walls of trucks made it a point to be my foes. Never do I feel anger, merely passionate opposition, at my worst. But they sure were pushing it. I wanted to declare to the cosmos, “Remove yourself from my path. The only thing I truly love needs help and I will cast the most acidic poison upon you so your insufferable essence is out of my way”. Even worse, when I finally found you and hoped to give you strength with food, the world turned to slow motion again and the food could not come too soon. Now I wait, to take you home and set you to rest. No more tears, for I could not bear to see them, as I will think some malignant force is responsible.
